Using Technology to Connect and Commemorate
Plank's President and Founder, Warren Wilansky, took part in an all-star panel of Communication Studies alumni — representing media, communications technology and academia. They speculated on the future of the next 50 years of communications.
Moderator John Moore, BA 88, is host of Moore in the Morning, an informative radio show that airs Monday to Friday on Toronto’s NEWSTALK 1010. He has worked as a news, arts and entertainment reporter and anchor in Montreal and Toronto. Moore is also one of the founders of the award-winning On the Spot Improv and writes regularly for The National Post.
Panelists Caroline Jamet, BA 91, has been President of Montreal’s Editions La Presse since 2011, and also serves as La Presse’s Vice President of Communications. Jamet has more than 25 years of experience in publishing, news media, and arts and culture.
Christopher Ali, MA 09, is assistant professor of media studies at the University of Virginia. His focus is on local, public and community media regulation, policy and discourse in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada.
Warren Wilansky, BA 96, is co-founder of Plank Design, a digital agency that specializes in developing the highest quality websites, mobile applications, and social media campaigns for a variety of creative and high profile clients.
Lisa Gasior, BA 04, MA 07, is a video game voice designer at Ubisoft Entertainment in Montreal. She began her career in sound production at Ubisoft in 2008 and is now in charge of everything voice-related in games from casting to recording to integration. Her MA thesis project, “Sounding Griffintown,” was a labour of love that combined soundscape studies and oral history.
