Inside Stories from a Tech Entrepreneur
Presented by Avery Swartz
Avery Swartz is a tech entrepreneur, web designer, tech writer and consultant. That means most days she’s just making things up as she goes along. Isn’t that really what we’re all doing when it comes to technology (whether we’re ready to admit it or not)?
In her entertaining and irreverent style, Avery will share how she’s made a career out of being a friendly nerd, and the lessons she’s learned along the way. She’ll tell the story of building her web studio, Camp Tech and the Gather North conference. Hear her opinions on traditional and alternative education, the importance of empathy and generosity, the power of collaboration and how to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
A Toronto-based tech expert, Avery is the founder and CEO of Camp Tech, the tech workshop company for non-technical people. Avery regularly appears on national television talking about tech trends, writes articles about tech and the modern woman for Chatelaine, writes about tech and small business for The Globe and Mail, and hosts the Camp Tech podcast. Avery acts as a digital advisor to a number of charities (including the Art Canada Institute and Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation), and co-hosts the Gather North retreat for women who make the web.
