Calling all baseball enthusiasts, designers, developer and statisticians, we’ve got some exciting news! On Saturday March 28th, 2015 Montreal will be joining the ranks of Boston and Philadelphia in hosting both Canada’s and Montreal’s first annual Baseball Hack Day.

As baseball fanatics ourselves, Plank couldn’t be anymore ecstatic to host this event and are proud to announce that we will be the principal sponsor. We can’t wait to combine both of our passions to bring the technology and sports communities of Montreal one-step closer together, while having a great time doing it.

We’re hoping to attract creative minds from all fields to create projects such as tools, web and mobile apps, websites, data visualizations or anything else using baseball stats. With 30 teams, 162 games per year and almost 150 years of statistics available, baseball is one of the best sports to take technical and design focused skills and projects to the next level.

The event will be held at Notman House, from 9:00 am - 7:00 pm, and will include breakfast, lunch, plenty of baseball themed snacks throughout the day and a celebratory drink and awards ceremony. Since the event is completely FREE, our limited spots are filling up fast so click here to get yourself registered. You don’t have to register in teams, but if you do, teams are 4 members since this is the best size for a one day event and prizes will be based on a 4 member team. Be sure to check out this Baseball Hack Day Tumblr for some great inspiration.

We have a great line of judges, sponsors and prizes lined up, which we will be announcing shortly. If you are interested or know anyone who would like to sponsor the event, please give us a shout.

And if you’re craving even more baseball (we all know it’s possible), 4 days after the event is the Baseball All-Star Gala and one week after is the Toronto Blue Jays vs. Cincinnati Reds exhibition games being held on April 3rd and 4th at the Olympic Stadium. Clearly Montrealers are thinking about baseball, so we couldn’t be prouder to help bring it back.

We can’t wait to get all of Montreal’s talented baseball fans under one roof. Check out the event on Facebook or the official website. See you there!
